Committees: Regulatory Committee
Group Pages

The Regulatory Committee is responsible for monitoring and informing the WIAWWA membership of laws (both federal and state), Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Public Service Commission (PSC) issues that are relevant to our membership.

The immediate goals of the Regulatory Committee are:

  • Recruit members to attend regulatory agency meetings.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of meeting topics and minutes.
  • Designate one individual to participate in the planning of Regulatory Affairs seminar each year.
  • Recruit and budget for attendees at AWWA’s National Fly in each year.
  • Serve as steering committee to budget and coordinate the Regulatory Newsletter of the WIAWWA.

The 2018 Fly-In occurred on April 18-19, 2018. This is an annual event that provides opportunity to meet our national legislators and bring issues that are important to the water industry to the forefront. This year the Association and WIAWWA each supported sending a representative.  Nancy Quirk and David Kelter represented us.  If you are interested in representing WIAWWA at this event in future years, please contact a either a trustee or a committee member.   Issue papers for this past year's Fly-in can be found here and here.  The 2019 Fly-in will occur on March 26, 2019.

Regulatory Affairs Seminar is a joint seminar put on by the Wisconsin DNR, Wisconsin PSC , MEG-Water, WRWA, and WIAWWA. The seminar was held on May 2, 2018 at the Pyle Center in Madison.   The 2019 seminar is tentatively scheduled for May 1, 2019.  Keep your eyes open for updates.

MEG-Water is a coalition of municipal water systems formed in 1991 to lobby on municipal water utility issues before the Wisconsin State Legislature, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
