To provide information, education, and networking
opportunities for persons in the Wisconsin water
industry who have interests in safety practices and
equipment as applied to the water utility industry. The
committee provides networking opportunities through
committee meetings, telephone conferences, and
educational activities. Information and education
opportunities are provided though seminars and other WWA
communication avenues.
2008
GOALS
1. Provide
a successful, well-attended safety conference at two
locations in the state with vendor space.
2. Hold
two in-person committee meetings with telephone
conferences as needed.
3. Assist
in the planning for the annual conference in the areas
of safety and security.
4. Sponsor
one article in the WWA section newsletter.
5. Seek to energize the committee by adding new
members with interest and expertise in the area
of
of safety. Fill the position of vice-chairman of the
committee during 2008.
SUMMARY OF 2008 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
·
Offered a full-day seminar at two locations (Milwaukee and
Madison) on “Competent Person Training for Trenching and
Excavation.” A total of 36 people attended the seminar. All
attendees were certified to have completed the training for
competent person and each received a certification card.
Committee members assisted in the planning for the 2007
conference in Green Bay, arranging for speakers for two
sessions (safety and security).
