Newsletter

Mission Statement

The Newsletter Committee strives to distribute relevant and timely information to the members of the Wisconsin Water Association (WWA) through its printed publication, while providing a means for the vendor members as well as other Committees of WWA to regularly contact its members.

2011 Goals

  1. Timely publication of three issues - Spring, Summer & Fall.Winter.
  2. Revisit the possibility of changing printers.
  3. Review advertising pricing structure and strive to remain at or below 40% ad space per issue.
  4. Maintain regularly featured articles in each issue.  For example:  cover story, chair’s message, director’s report, committee reports, annual meeting information, member features, research, technology, archives, PSC news, DNR news regulatory updates, relevant events/issues.
  5. Increase number of regular features in each issue based on interest from committee chairs – including PSC Conservation, MEG, Communications
  6. Alert members to significant changes in the water industry and in the organization.
  7. Encourage more involvement by committees in newsletter article submission.
  8. Attempt to energize the organization by motivating a higher percentage of our members to add their own value to the newsletter by submitting information and articles.
  9. Publish a minimum of at least one committee report from each WWA committee annually.
  10. Target communities for cover stories and other articles (100-year communities) to promote membership.
  11. Obtain more technical articles.
  12. Regularly review the new AWWA web site Section Synergy page  for potential articles.

SUMMARY OF KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2010

  • Three WWA Newsletters were published over the past 12 months.
  • Ad revenue continues to offset newsletter production costs.  The Newsletter averaged 27 percent advertising space per issue over the last year compared to 30 percent the previous year. We are still below the upper limit of 40 percent, set by the Board.
  • Transition to coordination with Jill from WWA for assistance with the advertising and newsletter production went very smoothly.
  • Many major feature articles were published in the past three issues.  All Section officer reports required by the organization’s bylaws were published, as well as Annual Meeting information, regular committee reports, and regulatory and technology updates.
  • Vice chairs of selected WWA committees were incorporated as key members of the Newsletter Committee and several remain actively involved.
