MISSION DESCRIPTION

To promote new memberships and retention of current members in WWA and AWWA in the State of Wisconsin.
Improve membership retention through increased member participation and involvement and promotion of the
benefits of membership in the association.

COMPOSITION

The Membership Committee consists of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Retention Coordinator, New Member Coordinator,
and Prospectives Coordinator.  Members are recruited from the Section at‑large, and should provide for reasonable geographic coverage of the State.

2006-2007 GOALS

1.         Successfully recruit individuals who have discontinued memberships within the past 24 months.

2.         Increase the number of new members.

3.         Increase the number of active WWA volunteers.

4.         Recruit four Utility Memberships.

5.         Continue to promote attendance at “Inside the WWA” session at annual conference.

6.         Maintain communication with new, dropped, and late members.

ACTIVITIES PLAN

5.         Meet or teleconference at least quarterly to monitor progress and to update recruiting plans as required (See tentative meeting schedule below).

6.         Identify individuals who have discontinued or lapsed memberships, and develop a plan to successfully
recruit them.  Perform an exit interview of members who fail to renew their memberships, and maintain a
database of the findings for future analysis.

7.         Actively Recruit membership from outside the association in the following ways:

a.     Develop a new member target list by investigating industry databases from other Wisconsin
associations or regulatory agencies, and cross-reference these databases with the WWA
membership database.  Develop a plan to recruit new members from target list.

b.     Coordinate with other committees, staff and event facilitators to maintain and exhibit a WWA
recruitment display at the following events at

                                                               i.      WWA Annual Meeting

c.     Explore other recruitment methods including trade journal ads and targeted mailings.

8.         Maintain and enhance a new member integration program including mailing new member packets,
assigning an existing member for mentoring; new member involvement on committees, a phone call by a
member of the Board to contact and welcome the new member to the association.

9.         Distribute membership kits to all Membership committee members, other committee chairs and the
Board and provide information on membership recruitment activities.

10.      Conduct the “Inside the WWA Breakfast” educational session during the WWA Annual Meeting.
Continue to improve attendance at the session.

11.      Provide the Association Chair and Board an update on any new members on a monthly basis by making
productive use of the monthly reports, promotional materials, and other assistance available from AWWA.
