MISSION DESCRIPTION
To promote new memberships and retention
of current members in WWA and AWWA in the State of
Wisconsin.
Improve membership retention through increased member
participation and involvement and promotion of the
benefits of membership in the association.
COMPOSITION
The Membership
Committee consists of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Retention
Coordinator, New Member Coordinator,
and Prospectives Coordinator. Members are recruited
from the Section at‑large, and should provide for
reasonable geographic coverage of the State.
2006-2007 GOALS
1.
Successfully recruit
individuals who have discontinued memberships within the
past 24 months.
2.
Increase the number of new
members.
3.
Increase the number of
active WWA volunteers.
4.
Recruit four Utility
Memberships.
5.
Continue to promote
attendance at “Inside the WWA” session at annual
conference.
6.
Maintain communication with
new, dropped, and late members.
ACTIVITIES PLAN
1.
Recruit volunteers to fill
committee coordinator positions.
2.
Assist AWWA with Circle of
Champions efforts.
3.
Focus on recruiting
additional student members.
4.
Organize Membership raffle
to raise money for subsidized memberships.
5.
Meet or teleconference at
least quarterly to monitor progress and to update
recruiting plans as required (See tentative meeting
schedule below).
6.
Identify individuals who
have discontinued or lapsed memberships, and develop a
plan to successfully
recruit them. Perform an exit interview of members who
fail to renew their memberships, and maintain a
database of the findings for future analysis.
7.
Actively Recruit membership
from outside the association in the following ways:
a. Develop
a new member target list by investigating industry
databases from other Wisconsin
associations or regulatory agencies, and cross-reference
these databases with the WWA
membership database. Develop a plan to recruit new
members from target list.
b. Coordinate
with other committees, staff and event facilitators to
maintain and exhibit a WWA
recruitment display at the following events at
i.
WWA Annual Meeting
ii.
League of Municipalities
Annual Meeting
iii.
Wisconsin Rural Water
Association Annual Meeting
iv.
Appropriate
educational/technical seminars
c. Explore
other recruitment methods including trade journal ads
and targeted mailings.
8.
Maintain and enhance a new
member integration program including mailing new member
packets,
assigning an existing member for mentoring; new member
involvement on committees, a phone call by a
member of the Board to contact and welcome the new
member to the association.
9.
Distribute membership kits
to all Membership committee members, other committee
chairs and the
Board and provide information on membership recruitment
activities.
10.
Conduct the “Inside the WWA
Breakfast” educational session during the WWA Annual
Meeting.
Continue to improve attendance at the session.
11.
Provide the Association
Chair and Board an update on any new members on a
monthly basis by making
productive use of the monthly reports, promotional
materials, and other assistance available from AWWA.
Adjust strategies and recruitment efforts based off the
information provided by those reports.
