DNR Liaison

Mission Statement

Provide a means for communication and coordination between WWA and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on issues of interest to the Wisconsin water industry.  Also, to keep the WWA membership informed of DNR & EPA regulatory activities, and coordinates this information and communications with the activities of the Legislative Affairs Committee. 

2011 Goals

1. Meet once every four months with DNR & EPA representatives.
2. Ensure WWA representation on all appropriate DNR & EPA work groups or advisory committees that address issues of concern to the Wisconsin water industry.
3. Provide timely and effective information to WWA members regarding current developments and DNR & EPA regulatory activities.

Activities Plan

1. Meet with DNR & EPA representatives in an open forum to discuss current, pending and proposed issues, such as rewrites/revisions of NR 809,  810 and 811.
2. Coordinate or prepare articles for the WWA newsletter on regulatory activities.  Coordinate article preparation with the Legislative Affairs Committee.
3. Develop a program to solicit ideas or concerns from the WWA membership and include these as topics for discussion during DNR sessions.
4. Advise the WWA Board of issues that the association should take a position on or take specific action on.
