Mission Statement

The goal of the Customer Service Committee is to provide information, training, and networking opportunities to people in the Wisconsin water industry who work  in customer service and with the State regulatory agency, PSCW.  These opportunities are primarily provided through presentations at seminars on topics of interest which may include regulatory changes and issues, customer service or self improvement topics ,  as well as other issues.

Customer Service & Utility Clerks Conference

This day long conference was held November 6, 2003 at the Country Inn & Conference Center in Waukesha. The morning speaker was Bill McKonkey from UW-Oshkosh who spoke on 'Bringing out the Best in People' . After lunch the seminar broke into specific tracks depending the attendees area of interest.

The Customer Service session included Jeff Perez from Northern Data services discussing the 'Virtual Clerk' . Then Ann Perry-Witmer from Strand & Associates presented “ The Bilingual Water Professional – Learning to Translate Technospeak into English'.

The Utility Clerk session was presented by John Andres of Virchow, Krause & Co., LLP who spoke on 'Customer Billing Rules and Regulations' and 'The Latest Trends in Water Rates'.

The whole group reconvened for Judy Walz, RN to discuss 'Healthy Choices: Balancing Health & Well Being in Today's Work Environment' . Six waterworks continuing education credits were offered for attending the complete seminar.

Annual WWA Conference

On September 15, 2004 the Customer Service has set up a interesting and informative Customer Service/Administration Tract. In the presentation ' Enter the Electronic Payment Age' the La Crosse and Kenosha water utilities will explain how to collect payments using ACH electronic payments or credit cards. Following that Tim Herlitzka, CPA from Virchow Krause will discuss Financial Tools to Better Manage your Utility.

Then some expert advice will be offered when Richard Heinemann from the Boardman Law Firm will speak on 'Bankruptcy Collections' . Several regulatory topics will be presented by Jane Zemlicka of the PSCW. She will speak on the 'Disconnection Process' and 'Customer Collections via the Taxroll'.
